Ezequiel Torres is considered one of the top drum carvers in the United States. He is also an expert at creating the complicated beadwork tapestries that are used to as covers for the bata drums.

Ezequiel was a curator, consultant and exhibitor for the Historical Museum of Southern Florida's 2001 exhibit, At the Crossroads, Afro-Cuban Orisha Arts, where his drums and beadwork were on display. In 2008, he received the Florida State Department's Florida Folk Heritage Award.
